Two Year Anniversary for SeekingIlm.com: Goals for Upcoming Year as Well As Reflections Upon Past Years

Alhamdulillah Seekingilm.com has been prolific in its call to Sunni Islam for two years now. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited the site and many have benefited, and some have not. I have personally traveled to gatherings around America and have randomly heard the mention of Seekingilm from one brother to another in conversations, and Alhamdulillah, most have been positive. I have heard criticisms as well. I have been told by many former pseudo-salafis that Seekingilm.com assisted them in their converting back to the Sunni way. We have been contacted by thousands around the world (including even China) via email telling us how the research on this site has helped them in their Sunni da’wah efforts, refuting the pseudo-salafi batil that has infected this Ummah. I have received hundreds of supportive emails asking to continue the Shafi’i fiqh series, Niqab Series, and the Hadra series. We have had many suggestions and we request that they keep coming.

Of course, the site has supporters and the site has many enemies, especially the pseudo-salafi anthropomorphists who we expose with our articles. Some traditionalists find fault in the “harsh” means and the “negative” articles we produce, and my answer to them is that we think such a method must be utilized when dealing with a rabid cult that preaches contempt for the Salaf us-Salih and disregard for life and honor (ex. Nasir Al-Fahd and the Takfiri fringe of the pseudo-salafi movement, and the pseudo-salafis of the UK who disregard the rights of Muslims under the guise of tabdi‘). As the arabs say ‘be a wolf or be eaten by the wolves’. The wolves of pseudo-salafism have killed, murdered, tortured, destroyed and poisoned the works of the Muslims for nearly 100 years now. I believe some from their movement have realized the “old” pseudo-salafi ways will no longer work. The ways of boycotting (hijrah), tabdi‘, takfir, honor attacks, murder etc turned many Muslims off. I have seen within the past 5 years many former pseudo-salafis finding peace in Sunni Islam, the Islam of the Imams of old! Many Muslims, especially converts, are realizing the spiritual emptiness in a “do it yourself” style of Islam, a “neo-Islam” that ignores the Sufic tradition of 1300 years.

It is for them that we keep this site running. It is for the born-Muslims who see their fathers and grandfathers attacked in Masjids for sitting in groups of dhikr, by these rabid wolves who run around calling themselves “salafis”. It is for the Maliki Ivorian man I saw physically attacked for putting his hands at his side in prayer that we will continue in this struggle insha’allah. It is for the young student at the university who is bombarded by the pseudo-salafi propoganda, while finding no literature to respond to the claims therein, that we will continue on insha’allah. It is also for the sister who is criticized for wearing Niqab by claimant pseudo-Sufis, modernist wackos, or fringe Al-Albanite pseudo-salafis that we will continue on, with Allah’s permission. It is for the common simple Muslim who knows that the spiritual litany (wird) his forefathers passed down to him is correct, even though the pseudo-salafis attack him for reciting it in the masjid, that we will continue on.

The goals for the upcoming Islamic & Gregorian year for Seekingilm.com are as follows:

1) Continue the Shafi’i Salah Fiqh Series

2) Expanding our Research on Issues of Tawassul

3) Possibly starting a Tafsir series in collaboration with brothers who are interested

4) Continue to forward knowledge found in the books of the Sunni Imams for English-speaking readers

5) Increase our tasawwuf research and articles

6) Expand our downloadables section to nashids, qasaa’id, lectures etc. bi’ithnillah…

We ask our loyal readers, some of whom are very demanding when they have questions, to be patient with us as we respond to your deen concerns. We have a small team and most of us hold full time jobs while being full time students at the same time. We also request your sincere prayers, that this site benefits the Muslims and continues to be a tool for the Sunnis. We ask that you make du’aa for the oppressed Muslims, especially those in Gaza, who have been slain in the recent genocide by  the Israeli thugs. May Allah destroy the oppressors Amin!

Jazakum Allahu Khairan,

Abul Layth

    Assalamu alaikum,

Thank you so much for your website and the important articles and research it produces. It’s an invaluable resource for the Ummah!

I am one example right here. :)

But yeah, I like your website and it’s sometimes fun to bash :P but it’s always better to be gentle. I know, I know- but just give it a shot and see if that gets a better response.

Also, I do post some stuff on my blog as well regarding some of the brainwashed salafis, so feel free to take from me.

    My suggestions:

-the constant issue of shirk super-salafis bring up, we should remember Nabi salallahu alayhi wasalam knew this would be an issue for us and taught us a dua for fear of shirk. Please spread it around because it handles those “shirk!” arguments

-up your quota if possible, and increase the variety of sources, to overseas ones…

    -translate some texts…

jazakullah for all the work you all have done. One of my personal interests is the discussion of tawassul. Have any of you read Albani’s book on it? If there could be some sort of response to his book, it would be good.

Wonderful refutation just printed! Insha’allah a better tahqiq will be produced!

I was reviewing the translation at the Suhba in orlando and found it to be excellent.

Well the majority of the stuff we put up is translations. The problem is that I and Abu Usaama have been the only ones even monitoring the site as of late. So, I am going to try and get some other brothers to get involved – Hint to Sidi Mu’awiya who I have encouraged to do some minor translations of the Al-Hewar site.

I can not promise a higher quota, but insha’allah I can promise good material!

  6. Rafael says:

As salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Hear! Hear! It is good to know if I get attacked at a masjid that Sidi Abu Layth has my back.

    Wasalam,

    Al-Shili La-Qadbi

  7. Dawud Israel says:

    ^^^BWAHAHAHAHAA!! LOL

But yeah, Abul Layth, just get the brothers to make firm intention. They should see this stuff as part of their spiritual progress- ihsaan in all things.

  8. Abul Layth says:

Ya Dawud there is a bit of an “inside joke” with Rafael and I about the whole qabd and sadl issue ;)

I certainly do have any sunnis back though lol!

  9. Rafael says:

As salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

I was wondering, what do you think about making a fiqh poem for children? maybe something broad and basic that inspired understanding and tolerance, maybe not something like, “And then the Imam wear his coat inside-out, And then prays for rain with a call and a shout.”

  10. Rafael says:

Actually now that I think of it, you know what I really want to see happen here: brining back the þ and Ð into transliteration. Ya Aðeem!

  11. Usooli says:

may Allah bless you dear brother Abul Layth for this great site. This has been truely helpful in exposing the neo salafi wahhabi cult and refuting them. They are an affliction that are destroying Islam under the name of Islam, I will be more than happy to contribute in this coming year inshallah. You have my commitment :-) , there are many articles out there on rubat.com, http://cb.rayaheen.net and al7ewar that will be transported to this site inshallah about the history of the wahhabi movement, translations from Ibn Ghannam’s tarikh about ibn abdel wahhab, the faultiness of the tajseem creed and the exposing of wahhabism to the point where they would not be able to stand any longer.. inshallah this coming year will be nightmare for them.. may Allah rid this ummah from their menance that is plaughing us in all walks of our lives and societies like a cancer causing this ummah’s continous downturn.

  12. faqir says:

good work brothers – keep it going. may Allah give you sucess in this life and the hereafter.

  13. hakim says:

    Assalam alaikum,

Your making a great effort here, but what about one of the areas where the so-called ‘salafis’ make their greatest errors?

To protect and cement the thrones of the oppressors they are continously underminig the holistic vision islam has for society and i have seen nothing in this site to address that.

We need to address the mistaken views they hold on monarchy for instance. please check this link out and let me know what you think.

  14. Abul Layth says:

Most of what I have seen in the article condemns the boastful or prideful “king”, example saying “Shaahun Shaah” or some baatil related to that. One can be a “King” and still refer the Hukm to Allah ta’ala. Mu’awiyah is recorded to have said ‘ I am the first of those Kings ‘ in reference to after the khilafa.

  15. hakim says:

    Salam bro abu Layth,

Thanks for checking that out, its a specific issue, for more general refutaion of salafis in issues of hukm sharia check thi out:
