Assalamu alaykum
I am a Hanafi with pretty much zero exposure to the Shafi’i school. However, I am interested in learning at least the basics of the madhhab. Do you think this is an appropriate course for that purpose? Is this text considered to be rather basic?
Jazak ALlahu khayra
Wa’alaykum Salam M7ia,
Fiqh Al-Manhaji is “basic” in the sense that you would learn the relied upon [mu'tamad] opinions of the school. It is not basic in the sense that you would learn the proofs of the school : the evidences utilized by the madhhab to determine the rulings. So imagine , for example, learning the verdict of the school that it is recommended to raise the hands when rising from bowing … you would learn the ruling and the proof for the ruling.
So if you are fine with learning the proofs, you’d be fine. Traditionally speaking, basic courses only learned the opinions without the proofs. But if you would like to learn the basic information, along with the proofs, then you would be fine I think.
Jazak Allahu khayra. Well, I’m interested in learning it more as comparative fiqh than to practice upon, so I suppose I do want to learn the proofs as well. I will definitely consider taking this class then, thanks for the answer.
Exactly how long is this course and will there be a payment requirement for each bab? Also, is registration for this class still allowed? I tried to fill out the interest form however, an error message popped up saying the maximum level of storage has been reached.
We forwarded your email address to the shafiifiqh.com team Sister Alia they should have contacted you
Assalaamu alaykum wr wb,
I would like to take this course. Obviously I am late in registering. Before I do that though and because I am a beginner in Shafi’ Fiqh, I’d like to know if the previous lessons I”ve missed have been recorded so I can listen to them?
JazaakAllahu Kayran
